The pathology results showed no cancer cells present! What a relief after several months of having this niggling at the back of my mind, and some times right in the front. Doctor Rosenthal removed the bandages, all except for the small tapes holding together the stitches, which should dissolve in about 10 days. After only a little over 24 hours I was developing that allergy rash to the tape applied in the hospital. Dr. Rosenthal said they had considered my allergy and had not applied the typical heavy white tape normally used. It was nice to hear they had tried.
She said that she had removed A-Typical cells from a duct and also from a lobe. The tissue she removed may or may not grow back. Since I am high risk, she suggested I see an oncologist for the latest on preventative measures, but reassured me that I if I continued to exercise, watch my diet and not consume much alcohol, I was probably doing what I needed to do. Could I loose 10 pounds? Yes, but putting the effort into that depresses me. I am rather tired of this whole business.
She said that some women with my condition choose to take Tamoxifen, which can help prevent breast cancer. After reading about it's side affects, this is not something I will choose to do in the immediate future. I will continue with yearly mammograms and perhaps increase exams to two times a year.
I so appreciate all the support from family and friends as I traveled this scary path.

That must have been one of the longest waits. So scary, but you made it and you are ok!! Praise the Lord!
