Welcome

I enjoy writing and sharing my life. I learned long ago that sharing what we know and what we learn is the only way we advance.

FIRST SKUNKS, AND THEN???

I arrived at the ranch on Tuesday where the crew was doing clean-up, our handyman was finishing up in the garage, and the 1/3 acre lawn was being mowed.

Anna led me where the where lawn clippings had been piled about 4' against the south side of the garage. The crew was scattering the pile in the field and were almost at the bottom. I found them gathered around a large egg, about 3" in diameter, oozing white and yoke. I thought it had been a cozy place to have lain an egg. They crew thought it was a probably a snake egg.

I said, "How could a snake lay an egg that big? It must be a goose egg." I knew it was too large for the  hen from across the street who sometimes wanders over.

Adam, who seems very knowledgeable on these matters said, "Too big for a goose."

Darwin said, "One damn big snake."

They left it there. I hope it is still there today so I can get a picture, but I think maybe the mother skunk has eaten it. Adam said he was going to do web research to see if he could identify it.
