Paris this time of year is beautiful, balmy days, crisp nights. We are finally over jet lag and leaving tomorrow. There is never enough time here. We visited many of the main sights yesterday and then spent a couple of hours at the D'Orsey. I was eager to see Klimp, one of my favorite artists, but was dissapointed that only one of his paintings was hung, not one of my favorites. We viewed some of the impressionists and returned to our room for a nap.I dream of visiting again and spending a week on each floor.
We are walking everywhere, stopping along the river at bistros for snacks and people watching, more than making up for the exercise by devouring rich lots of great food.
Last night my husband treated me to a dinner cruise on the Seine. As I blog this morning, I am looking at a single red rose, a gift from Collie as we left the boat. It was a dreamy evening, the dramatically lighted momuments passing as we listened to live jazz, drank wine and ate a 3 course meal.
It is hard to believe that, as we live the good life in Paris, Agadaz, Niger, where we are headed, is suffering as the result of the recent flood. Will we be able to make any kind of difference.
The Batamouche boat ride on the Seine for a dinner cruise is wonderful as you glide past the back side of Notre Dame Cathedral, etc. I thought the food was terrible but loved the boat ride. That was in 1978.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Paris in 2003 and loved every minute of it. I can hardly wait to go back. I hope the rest of your trip goes really well.
